It is anticipated that the ferry, which received damage to the drive cables after being struck by debris and river navigation markers, will be operating again by Monday afternoon.
Council’s Director of Assets and Works Ben Stewart said the ferry was back in the river after being secured to the river bank throughout the flood alert.
“Council staff are working to clear the rubbish from the vessel while also determining the level of damage to the drive cables,” Mr Stewart said.
“They are also looking at the amount of silt that has been washed up onto the ramps.”
Staff will require a return to calm river conditions before being able to start the repairs.
Council has been in constant contact with local Comerong Island residents and have ensured they are all safe and kept informed of progress with the repair of the ferry.
