On Tuesday morning a torrent of water tore through the lower storey garage of their rented home, combining with flooding at the rear of the property from Cockrow Creek.
“There was nothing you could do,” said Jim as he stood in almost knee deep water surveying the damage.
“We just had to open the door and let it flow through. It even took out the fences. We have been here for nine years and have seen floods, but never anything like this. It just came up so quickly.
“The creek at the back was really flowing and breaking its banks and on the road it was just like a mini torrent
“Since there have been so many new sub divisions go up around the area the water volume certainly seems to be worse – the creek simply can’t take the volume of water it now gets.
“Something needs to be done about the creek.”
The couple stayed put and didn’t have any thoughts of evacuating.
A Holden HR he was restoring with a mate was stored in the garage, where the water level reached just below the door handles.
Come Thursday morning and with a still large amount of water inside the garage and in the backyard the clean-up for the Pages would still be a while off.
