Women who move to Australia to be with their partners will be issued with information packs telling them that rape, violence and forced marriage are illegal, as part of a push to address domestic violence across different cultures.

Michaelia Cash Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Women, launched the packs on on Friday, saying they would educate women about "Australian standards" before the women came to the country.
"Often there is a fundamental lack of knowledge of these women coming from overseas in terms of our domestic laws, what rights they are afforded in Australia and where to turn to if they require help," Senator Cash said.
The packs, which also include emergency and support contacts, tell women that they "do not have to stay in an abusive relationship to stay in Australia".
They also say that "men and women have equal rights", before listing such actions as the controlling of family money or a woman's movements as being against the law.
The top source countries for partner visas include China, India, Britain, the Philippines, Vietnam and Afghanistan.
The announcement comes as Senator Cash and Social Services Minister Scott Morrison convened a national meeting on violence against culturally and linguistically diverse women in Sydney on Friday.
"It is vital that we engage in what is such an important conversation," Mr Morrison said.
On Friday, the government also announced $160,000 for a research project that will look at how culturally and linguistically diverse women, Indigenous women and women with a disability experience violence.
