The African Children’s Choir is made up of children aged seven to 10, many who have lost one or both parents through famine, war or disease.
The choir tours the world, raising money and awareness for the children who return home for education.
Tapitallee woman Julie Hilditch will travel to Uganda to volunteer with the charity later in the year, spending two weeks in the choir schools.
She organised the event at her home on Saturday evening.
“We have a small choir going over and we will sing with them and the children,” Julie said.
She is travelling with 12 others, who among them have committed to raise $25,000.
“I’m hopeful of $3000 from Saturday night,” Julie said.
The money goes towards buying items the Ugandan children need.
See kwaya.org for more information and to help Julie’s fundraising efforts.
