The store’s monthly Storytime program successfully received part of the $100,000 funding.
Children’s reader Gail Comber said the plan was to use the money to provide children with a book they can take home after each session.
“It’s about promoting a love of reading to children which we can hopefully instil in them at a young age to stay with them forever,” she said.
“We’d love to give the children a fairy tale book at some point too because we were surprised to learn many young kids don’t know the traditional fairy tales anymore, like the Three Little Pigs.
“Books are fun and you can be whoever you want to be, it’s a whole new world that you can become a part of.”
