Each year the entrants drive from one town with a name starting with B and finish in another town starting with B.

This year it starts at Bass Hill in Sydney with the finish line 4598 kilometres away across the bottom of Australia in Bunbury in WA.

Callala Bay resident Brian Muller is looking forward to the adventure, which will be his 22nd bash.

His 1969 ZB Ford Fairlane with an M and M’s theme will make up one of the 10 Shoalhaven cars.

“This one’s a big trip and we’ve got a lot of Shoalhaven entrants. I think we make of up about 10 per cent of the national entries,” he said.

“So far this year we have raised about $120,000 but I’d expect by the end of the bash it will be up to $150,000 to $160,000.”

Last year was a record fundraising year for Variety locally with the build and sale of the GJ Gardner house.

GJ Gardner’s Sean Vickery and Nathan Fay have decided to join this year’s bash in a shark-themed Holden Statesman. 

“We’ve named the car Delma after the lovely, little old lady we bought it off,” Mr Vickery said.
