Berry Veterinary Clinic confirmed there were five to six cases of colic within a three day period in local equines last week.
The trend has not continued.
The cases were diagnosed as spasmodic colic which is pain related to the gastrointestinal tract. The causes are numerous, but a reason for the spate could possibly be from rich grass growth or that of an unusual weed.
The horses were treated and are recovering.
