Round eight of the MX Nationals will take place at the Nowra Motoplex on Braidwood Road, Yerriyong.
MX Nationals series promoter Kevin Williams says he is looking forward to taking the series back to Nowra, and that the local community is already gearing up for a huge weekend of racing.
“There are a number of MX Nationals riders who are from the Nowra area, so we should have a strong crowd of supporters on Sunday,” he said.
In addition to the main classes of competition, Williams said that round eight will also see the women return to the MX Nationals for the second time this year - with the final round of Yamaha Australian Women’s Championship being run and won this weekend.
“This weekend, the women of our sport will also have the opportunity to race for an Aussie title, when Nowra plays host to the final round of the Yamaha Australian Women’s Championship,” he said.
“We are very pleased to have welcomed back the women to the MX Nationals this year and to have the final round in Nowra is exciting.
“Our women have done a fantastic job representing our country on the international stage this year, so it will be great for fans to have the opportunity to see some of our women compete on home soil.”
Local interest will be on Luke Styke, who rides for the powerful Dunlop team.
Styke, last round in Shepparton, recorded positive results at round seven, taking second in race one before claiming sixth in race two and finishing the round one position shy of the podium in fourth overall.
Mayor of Shoalhaven City Joanna Gash is looking forward to the event.
“Council is certainly extremely excited to be able to bring such an exciting and prestigious event as the 2015 MX Nationals to the Shoalhaven,” said Cr Gash.
“The event will provide local residents with the opportunity to witness the nation’s most talented motocross riders competing on a high quality and challenging course.
“Further to this, the MX Nationals are expected to bring hundreds of competitors, officials and supporters to the area in what will be a huge boost for the local economy.”
