Students from high schools throughout the Shoalhaven as well as interested members of the public flocked to the Shoalhaven campus of University of Wollongong on Friday for the annual expo.
The expo featured exhibitors ranging from defence to government, community and business organisations ready to speak with students about career options.
The expo was a chance for year 10 students to find out what subjects to study in their HSC years in order to pursue their desired career.
Aerospace Training Services cabin crew instructor Darlene Wright said she was pleasantly surprised by the number of students who came straight to them.
“As each school comes through we have a lot of interested students asking us questions,” she said.
“We are targeting year 10 students who are choosing subjects for their senior years.”
Guest speakers this year included Manildra, AEROTS, Home and Community Care, Radiation Oncology, Oral Health/Dentistry and the University of Wollongong.
Phillip Moore from Apprenticeship Support Australia said there were plenty of students with an interest in traineeships and apprenticeships.
“I’ve been promoting our website, Skills Road, which provides lists of apprenticeships and give the students an opportunity to put their names down for one,” he said.
