On Tuesday morning a number of officers including detectives, the crime management unit, target action group (TAG) and general duties converged on the Nowra Gateway Caravan Park next to the Shoalhaven River Bridge.
Officers searched the park and spoke to a number of residents.
Shoalhaven Duty Officer Acting Inspector Scott Nelson said the operation was part of an ongoing proactive strategy to combat crime in the command.
“As part of Operation Rampart, which we have been conducting for a couple of years, we deploy a number of police in certain areas throughout the command,” Acting Inspector Nelson said.
“It is an ongoing proactive strategy we have been employing twice weekly. En masse we have a police presence, high visibility, and converge on an area and seek assistance from the public in those areas they have concerns and crime hot spots that we identify.
“When available, we get a number of police to the location and virtually go through and search people where necessary, and gain any information we can gather.”
The searches follow on from Strike Force Croci, which has seen 32 people arrested and charged with a number of serious drug related matters.
“This follows on from Croci and, of course, drug information is very important,” he said.
“But you have the follow on crime from that, which we want to get on top of.
“We continue to appeal to the public for any information or concerns they have in their local areas to please call us.
“We will identify those areas and when available get resources there to target those areas.”
Anyone with any information on crime or drug related issues are urged to call Nowra Police on 4412 9699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
