Manyana were the first on the score sheet after 20 minutes when Rohan Daley finished a moved down the left side, which caught the Heads defence off guard, to give his side 1-nil.

The match ebbed and flowed until the half time break as the teams headed to the sheds.

Some stern words from coach Brad Banks at half time seemed to stir the visitors, who came out firing after half time.

Heads created the first three opportunities of the half but failed to convert until the 77th minute when the visitors were awarded a free kick.

Connor Edenden stepped up and whipped the ball into the area, finding Roy Miller who nodded the ball into the back of the net to equalise for Heads.

Heads coach Brad Banks said the draw was probably a good indication of how the match played out.

“It was a fairly scrappy game and probably not a purist’s game of football, but a draw was probably a good result for us,” he said.

He said his side needs to work on playing for 90 minutes and not leaving anything out on the park.

Banks said his club had been ravaged with unavailability which resulted in nearly half the club’s players on the sidelines.

He said it was a good chance for some of the guys in lower grades to step up and put their hand up for selection.

“Roy Miller was a standout in both defence and attack, he had a lot of new players around him and he was great.

“Connor Edenden played a strong role in the middle of the park and put in a good performance,” said Banks.

Banks also noted Neil Kelly, Paul Bacchaus and David Crapp as well as youngsters Jessie Jackson and Ben Galbraith, who stepped up from reserve grade and put in solid performances for Heads.
