The Jets led by just 20-12 at the break at Noel Mulligan Oval, against a depleted Blacks.
However, an approximately 15-minute period during the second stanza, whereby the home side didn't touch the ball, as Nowra piled on the pain blew the final score-line out considerably.
Centre Nathan Falzon, a handful for the defence all day scored a hat-trick, while Steve Brandon, John Carey and Jaymay Johnson also notched up doubles.
A piggy-back penalty to the visitors from the first set of the game laid the platform for Carey to weave through for four-nil.
A few Jets errors afforded the home team attacking opportunities, and they gained an unlikely lead as Tane Sturmey's great lead-up work enabled Christian Kupenga to score a converted try.
Their joy was short-lived, Nowra halfback Geoff Johnson laying on a try for Falzon after a Blacks error.
Bruising defence forced another turnover of possession, and within a few tackles Geoff Johnson and Carey combined to send Falzon over out wide.
Perhaps the visitors were guilty of over-playing their hand somewhat in attack, as the home outfit stayed in the contest via a Ronald Gatt effort in the 31st minute, reducing the deficit to 14-12.
Nowra extended their advantage and headed into the sheds, when Zac Kershaw stormed through.
The cellar-dwelling Port team had been gallant against the third-placed Jets, and Richard Pollard barged over, to cut the deficit to just two points.
Mistakes at inopportune times proved costly though, such as a Port forward pass from the next set.
They paid for it as veteran prop Mick Blattner, who they struggled to contain throughout, forced his way across the stripe.
The Blacks displayed some fortitude, Sturmey shortly after running away for a try.
A Nowra one-on-one strip from a Port kick return presented a golden chance at the money end of the field, and they capitalised via a Carey try.
That started a procession, the Jets' superior strength in the middle and pace on the edges wreaking havoc against a rapidly tiring defence.
A clever Kurt Quinlan flick pass in traffic found Geoff Johnson, and pivot Brandon's speed and footwork punished Port twice in as many minutes.
A Ben Wellington off-load created one of his four-pointers, and he had spiders on him for the follow-up, beating a handful of would-be tacklers to raise the half-century.
It appeared there may not be enough ink in this correspondent's pen to mark down all the try-scorers as Jaymay Johnson backed up a Falzon line break.
Ben Lahene and Falzon continued the rout.
Even after finally securing possession the Blacks couldn't stop the rot; Nowra intercepted the ball and Jaymay Johnson crossed.
Port's Craig Tamanui scored a late consolation try.
