Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis said the Shoalhaven will receive over $13.5 million between 2014-15 and 2018-19.
“This is one of the largest investments in local roads for many, many years,” Mrs Sudmalis said.
The funding is coming from the government’s Roads to Recovery Program.
“Roads to Recovery is a great program for regions like Gilmore,” Mrs Sudmalis said.
“With money heading directly to local councils, the funds can be targeted where they are needed the most.”
She said the extra money is the result of changes to the fuel indexation legislation.
“Every cent of the $23 billion raised from the excise will be invested back into roads infrastructure,” Mrs Sudmalis said.
“I am glad our roads are finally receiving the funding they deserve.”
