The Jets move up into third on the back of that win, which was their third straight win.

But Jets captain/coach Ben Wellington is trying to keep a lid on things and maintain his boys' focus.

“We can’t afford to take Port Kembla lightly, because they are a tough team, especially on their home ground,” Wellington said.

“Everyone seems to write them off but they are always a tough match for us.

“They always start well, so it is up to us to withstand them in the opening part of the game and wear them down.

“If we can do that, our forwards should be able to roll forward and we should be able to get the result.

“We need to be switched on from the start and make sure we do the little things right.”

Wellington said it was his forwards that have set the tone for his team in recent weeks and he expects that to continue.

“We muscled up early last week against Gerringong in the middle of the park and that tougher style was key to us claiming the win,” he said.

“I hope the boys do the same this week.

“But we will be without Clinton Braddick, Matt Rouen and Sean Lynch this week, who are all unavailable.

“As such, I will be looking to our whole forward pack, in particular John Carey, Jack Atfield and James Toovey to step up.

“Without Sean Lynch, who gets through a huge workload each game, our whole team is going to need to lift their workloads.”
