The report, compiled by the Bureau of Meteorology, provides benchmarking information for 78 Australian water utilities across 19 separate key performance indicators.
Shoalhaven Water performed at the upper end of the scale for a Local Government Water Utility having achieved strong results against a series of national trends.
These included; continuing lower typical residential bill (3.2 per cent lower than national median); continuing lower combined operating costs water and sewer (15.6 per cent lower than national median); higher combined capital expenditure water and sewer per property (20.4 per cent higher capital spend on assets than national median); and higher customer responsiveness – total water and sewer complaints (82.7 per cent lower than the median).
Shoalhaven Mayor Joanna Gash was extremely pleased to see Shoalhaven Water again performing at a high level compared with similarly-sized utilities.
“While the overall result was extremely pleasing, I was particularly happy to see council performing well above the national median in regards to benchmarking for customer responsiveness,” she said.
“This is particularly pleasing when considering the size, expanse and diversity of the entire Shoalhaven Water operations.”
