Members of the Royal Aust-ralian Navy Tactical Electronic Warfare Support Section (RANTWSS) donated $200 worth of winter clothing and $300 for food and are raising another $200 for more clothes.

RANTWSS commanding officer Lieutenant Commander Matthew Buckley said the personnel raise money with mufti-days and cooking competitions.

He said the staff raised money for a range of organisations but recently the plight of the Shoalhaven Homeless Hub hit their radar.

“The daughter of one of our staff goes to Girl Guides and came home to tell her father about the Hub. He thought it would be a good organisation for us to support and so here we are.

“Giving back to the Shoalhaven community is important to us because the people here support us in many ways,” he said.

Shoalhaven Homeless Hub manager Kerri Snowden was overwhelmed by the donation and said the timing was perfect as the organisation’s food cupboard was getting low on stock.

“The food we provide is to people who are put in temporary and emergency motel accommodation and there has been a real drain on our supplies lately.

“We can’t do without donations and this money will buy a lot of stock,” she said.
