Nowra-Bomaderry had a tough outing against the Shellharbour City Sharks, losing 46-12.
“It wasn’t our best game at all,” said Jets captain coach Ben Wellington.
“We started well in the first 10 minutes, winning the rucks and competing on every possession.
“But then we went to sleep and they punished us.
“There are a lot of negatives to come from the game, such as line speed and discipline.
“We gave away 10 pens in first half, and they capitalised on it.”
But that is in the past and Wellington has emphaised that his team has to move on and concentrate on Sunday and the Gorillas.
“We had a sood session on both Tuesday and Thursday and I know the boys are ready for Warilla,” he said.
“We have spoken about not giving away silly penalties and having a good attitude on the field.
“We expected to just roll up and go through the motions last week and get a result.
“It was a good reality check for the boys, as Shellharbour are a quality side.
“They nullified the impact of Steve Brandon, who usually has plenty of opportunities to attack the line.
“We have all learnt a lot from that match.
“I’m looking for the forwards to aim up, get a roll on and do their jobs.
“If they do that, it will give the backs a chance to do their jobs and that’s score points.”
