Despite leaving in fairly poor conditions here on the coast, Hall proved to be beautifully clear and not a hint of rain in sight.
One team plus two extras were there to play great polocrosse.
The team consisted of Matthew Shea, Kim Porter, Luke Wilford, Jodie Jackson, Jackson Bower and Heath Cole.
With three pool games to get through against Bungendore, Burradoo and Hall, the Milton team came out all guns blazing to record three strong victories.
Matthew Shea and Jodie Jackson were wonderful in their number one positions.
Matthew his usual hard running play out smarting defenders all across the field and Jodie threw the most unbelievable goals from extreme angles, which had all players and spectators gasping.
Kim Porter and Jackson Bower were the backbone of the team.
Kim had her horse blocking others to clear a path for her number one and Jackson collected stray passes to distribute to his number one from all over the midfield.
Luke and Heath were fantastic in their defensive areas.
Luke has made the number three position his own, with his quick turns and speed off the mark.
Heath shone in his position and perhaps the game of the weekend for him was against Bungendore’s strong and experienced number one.
He must be very pleased with how his horse pushed the opposing horse, it was wonderful to see.
Despite their great efforts of the weekend, the final wasn’t theirs and Bungendore ran out winners.
Gavin Morton was subbed out to Braidwood for the weekend.
He played in the number two position but was so very pleased to be awarded a goal after being hit in the head by an opponent’s stray racquet.
He was lucky to only lose his helmet’s peak.
Gavin’s horse has really come along and will be a great competitor in next year’s carnivals.
Drew Morton was the only sub-junior on the weekend.
Apart from enjoying himself as he always does, the umpires worked on teaching the rules and penalising the players as a normal game would run.
This was wonderful as both Drew and Dana Shea will be playing next weekend at the Moss Vale Carnival in their zone teams.
Wade Mathie from Eurocoast came to coach for the weekend.
His experience is without peer and players and parents are very pleased with your input.
Typical Canberra weather saw play having to be delayed for the frost to melt, taps to work again and horses and animals to warm up and all thought that it was the coldest night they’ve had so far.
Despite the weather it was a great weekend.
Nathan Shea, Dana Shea and Toni Murray travelled to Cassilis on the Northern Tablelands for Zone Championships and players had an outstanding tournament.
Nathan in the finals proved to be unstoppable and rarely allowed the opposition a chance to have the ball in their possession and Toni covered all defenders with her horse.
Dana worked well in the sub-junior competition.
Well done players and parents for the effort to travel that far and playing so well.
