The organisation is looking for site co-ordinators from councils, schools, national parks, Guides, Scouts, nature care organisations and faith and sporting groups who would like help to plant trees and shrubs and care for their local area.
Hosting a site is a way to engage the wider community in the valuable work of these groups while also creating a positive environmental activity and beneficial health and wellbeing outcomes.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this 20-year milestone with Australia – especially those who have been involved year after year since the campaign’s inception,” National Tree Day manager Debbie Agnew said.
“The fact that we’re able to continue growing our community and increase participation every year is testament to those who get involved, as it means more and more people are understanding just how valuable preserving our natural environment is.”
Each year over 200,000 people take part in National Tree Day events at more than 3000 sites around the country.
This year the National Tree Day theme You Can Grow So Much focuses on the wealth of opportunities engaging with nature brings to individuals, communities and the environment.
