A fast paced start to the game saw both sides push hard in attack.
It was United who drew first blood when Billy Wallington broke away down the left side, before cutting a ball back to Jordan Haddow who slotted it home to give his side a 1-nil lead.
United had the advantage at half time and coach Trevor Skingle was happy with the way it was panning out.
“We played well in the first half and our defence especially was impressive,” he said.
Shortly into the second half, Dale Blundell received a second yellow card and was sent off for the remainder of the match, leaving Culburra a man down.
Soon after, Wallington added his name to the score sheet to make it 2-nil to United.
A strong cross in from Culburra’s Luke Hill found Corey Ryan in the box, who finished coolly to make the score 2-1.
However that would be the only goal for Culburra as United ran rampant in the remainder of the second half.
Jason Button added his name to the score sheet before Wallington put another in the back of the net for his brace.
An own goal late in the match made it 5-1 to United, edging them further ahead on the competition table.
Culburra coach Matt Parker said his side’s fitness let them down a bit towards the end of the match as United came home strong.
“We had a player sent off and they scored three times after that so we were chasing the game a bit when it opened up.
“But we needed much more urgency and energy early in the match,” said Parker.
However it wasn’t all negative from the coach who said it will take time to implement the brand of football that he wants his side to play.
“Most of these boys have played the same way their whole lives and I’ve changed quite a bit so it’s going to take time.
“It’s not going to happen overnight.
“But in saying that, we had plenty of chances… we’re in a bit of a rut at the moment and we need to get out of it,” said Parker.
Coach Skingle said it’s always a positive sign when you can beat Culburra and believes his side is heading in the right direction.
“From our point of view it was a very pleasing result.
“Our defence was really impressive… it was genuinely a well rounded team performance,” said Skingle.
Skingle noted Brett Ringland, Tom Moffatt, Matt Fuz and Matt Lewis for their performances on Saturday, while Parker said Stephen Gray and Kieth Merivale were good for Culburra.
