"We will have a team of about 80 staff, and over 90 per cent of these will be locals," complex manager Nick Hare said.
Mr Hare said the recruitment for the new store had been finalised.
"All the 30 staff of the current store will be transferred over and many new recruits will be taken on."
Meanwhile, Bunnings staff have been busy in the community making their presence felt.
They were at Batehaven emergency accommodation facility Hope Place on Friday, painting and renovating the kitchen and installing a sandpit and cubby house, work which they will finished next week.
"We want to be part of the community, so we get involved in these projects throughout the year," Mr Hare said.
"It's just the right thing to do."
Next week Bunnings staff will install screening, garden furniture and railway sleepers at Life Without Barriers in Catalina, and also installing benches and landscaping for the special needs unit at Batemans Bay High School.
