The camera, which had only finished being installed on Thursday, was damaged by an individual at 10.34pm that evening.
Shoalhaven City Council reported the incident to police and provided them with footage which will aid further investigations.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is encouraged to contact Nowra Police Station.
Mayor Joanna Gash said it was extremely disappointing vandals had damaged the camera particularly so soon after its installation.
“The use of CCTV cameras has proven to be a very capable tool used in both identifying and deterring perpetrators of crime,” she said.
“Luckily the cameras had been turned on late yesterday [Thursday] as part of the final testing phase meaning council is able to make footage of the vandalism available to police.
“Council is determined to catch the person responsible for this action.”
A federal government grant funded the installation of CCTV cameras at Bomaderry, Sanctuary Point and East Nowra.
Work will begin on the installation of cameras at Sanctuary Point and East Nowra in coming days.
