Due to the wet weather, the Jets haven’t played since their round two loss to Gerringong.
The Jets sit in seventh position on the table, with no wins and two losses to their name.
Captain/coach Ben Wellington admits that the past couple of week have been frustrating.
“The wet weather has been holding everyone back, which from our point of view has been frustrating,” he said.
“But the boys are buzzing to be able to return to our home field and play against Port Kembla.”
Wellington, who is still out injured, is excited about the make-up of his team this week.
“Steve Brandon will be backing up this week after playing for the Group 7 representative team on the Saturday,” he said.
“I hope he brings back some of that experience to the squad and the other boys can feed off that.
“Nathan Falzon is another guy I’m looking for a big game from.
“Nathan had the honour of playing for Malta last weekend against Lebanon in an international.
“We are proud to have an international footballer at the club and it’s something that everyone in the town should be proud of.
“There’s also a chance a couple of our junior players make the step up into first grade.”
Having not played for so long, Wellington’s team has been concentrating on fatigue execution at training during the week.
“We have been working on playing fatigue because we seemed to struggle at the back end of our matches this season,” he said.
“Improving our mental toughness, not dropping the ball at crucial times and not giving away silly penalties are keys to winning.
“Port Kembla are always a tough side, but hopefully with a strong completion rate and improved pressure, we can come away with two points and kick start our season.”
The Berry Magpies will play their catch-up game against the Kiama Knights Thursday night at the Berry Showground, kicking-ff at 7.30pm.
