“The Group 16 boys can be proud of their efforts and showed that they can be competitive against the much bigger and better resourced Groups,” Sharks’ secretary John Cornall said.
“We are particularly proud of the eight Sharks who played vital roles in the game and the two support staff supplied.”
The club was also pleased to report no major injuries from the clash.
The Sharks now turn its attention to traditional rivals, Bega Roosters, who line up at Ack Weyman Oval on Sunday.
The Roosters are last year’s first grade premiers and will be keen to inflict Moruya’s first loss of the season.
“Bega will have four very tough sides, being undefeated in both under 18s and reserve grade, while always being competitive in the girls’ league tag game,” Cornall said.
The Roosters’ first grade side has only lost once this season; to an enthusiastic Merimbula outfit.
The game on Sunday will be the third year in a row that the Sharks have hosted home games on Mother’s Day.
The club urges its supporters to “bring mum along” as all mothers will be given free raffle tickets for a new dinner set.
The raffle is just for mums and will be drawn on Sunday.
In addition, all mums will receive a free glass of champagne from the canteen.
