There were tears as old Diggers who could no longer march drove past in old war vehicles, holding their heads high with pride.
Commander of the Fleet Air Arm Commodore Vince Di Pietro gave the main address while Nowra Salvation Army Lieutenant Dominic Wallis conducted his third Nowra Anzac ceremony.
More than 5000 people attended the service.
Lt Wallis said it felt amazing.
“I was also at the Greenwell Point dawn service and it was huge. There were people everywhere, it was good so see such a large turnout at both services.
“With the sun coming up it was perfect,” he said.
Shoalhaven Mayor Joanna Gash, who attended the Shoalhaven Heads dawn service and the Nowra service, said she thought the people of the city were fantastic for coming out in such large numbers.
“The turnout at Shoalhaven Heads was huge, as was Nowra’s and it was good to see such a mix of the young and the very old and everyone in between,” she said.
