Nowra SES controller Mark Kielly said the Shoalhaven and South Coast were lucky to escape the worst of the recent storms.
“There were 11,000 calls for assistance across the state and as a region from Wollongong to the border we only clocked in 330.
“Most of those calls were for assistance in Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama,” he said.
One team of SES volunteers from Nowra spent three days helping in Gosford and were expected to return on Friday.
Nowra recorded 56mm of rain on Tuesday, 79.6mm of rain on Wednesday and 25mm of rain on Thursday.
Wednesday was the wettest day for the year.
