ONCE again I write about the comments made by Cr Guile regarding the amount of money paid towards the local government election campaign by Joanna Gash. He’s correct in part, for once in his life, however omits the parts that don’t back up his lies.

Joanna Gash certainly did provide more of her own finances, as stated by the Election Funding Authority report because she nominated for two separate positions, that of councillor and mayor, which were separate entities.
Her mayoral nomination covered the need for additional funding over and above those of the other councillor nominees, who were not expected to financially fund the mayoral position application. The mayoral campaign covered additional separate media costs, signage, printing, travel and other expenses.
None of the funding was used to support other candidates and the false claims made against Cr Tribe on numerous occasions makes one wonder just what Cr Guile has against her. In fact, it is interesting to note that he only rants against the elected women from our campaign, not any males. This appears to be bullying conduct at the highest level. I wonder what Cr Guile has against women.
In addition, his reference to the use of the Joanna Gash name borders on the ridiculous, showing just how low he is willing to stoop.
Joanna Gash has legally held the name for the last 50 years or more. To say people trade off the name is untrue again. The only exception is Cr Guile himself, who uses it constantly in the letters to the editor to gain attention.
Cr Guile further states “local democracy should be robust and passionate and provocative and should keep it professional”. He should take his own advice, or is he running an early election campaign?
