CLYDE Poulton of Nowra will lay a wreath at Gallipoli for the Centenary of Anzac commemoration this week.

Mr Poulton said he was privileged to have the opportunity to remember the soldiers who died and also represent the South Coast community with a specially made garland.
“I wanted something I could easily take with me and have it made locally so it meant something for the people of the South Coast and the soldiers who died there,” he said.
“When I spoke to the ladies at the Kiama CWA they said they would love to be involved and rather than leave behind flowers that would eventually die, they knitted individual poppies which they then arranged in this wreath.
“Once I leave, the wreath will remain there. To have it represent the local soldiers who died in Turkey and leave a piece of us there I think is really special.”
Mr Poulton flew out on Monday to see the World War I battlefield before the service.
“I think it will be rather sobering and powerful.”
Mr Poulton is also an ex-serviceman, having served in Vietnam.
“I have a strong passion for the ex-servos and I think this trip is a great opportunity,” he said.
“I want to make the most of it.”
The special wreath was made by Margaret Carmichael, Rhonda Bach, Jean Atkins, Beryl Batten, Christine Stirman, Marion Rattray, Phyllis Saunders, Thelma Allman, Kay Collier, Joan Miller and Carmen Cook.
