The controversial $38 million Albert "Tibby" Cotter Walkway to the Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Stadium will come under the scrutiny of the state's auditor-general.

The Auditor-General, Grant Hehir, wrote to the Member for Sydney, Alex Greenwich, this week to say that he had decided to audit the walkway to "assess whether the business case was sound, governance arrangements were adequate, and its construction was economical".
Fairfax Media has previously revealed the rush inside the state government to find funds for the walkway, which former premier Barry O'Farrell wanted to have ready for this year's Cricket World Cup.
The Roads Minister, Duncan Gay, and his department Roads and Maritime Services, ended up finding $25 million to build the bridge from elsewhere in the roads budget, but the cost of the project blew out to $38 million.
Mr Gay blamed the blow-out on the NSW Heritage Council, which denied responsibility and returned fire by saying the bridge should not have been built.
A number of community groups were opposed to the bridge, some on the grounds that it took up too much space on Moore Park. Cycling groups were opposed to it because it failed to link with the heavily used Anzac Parade cycle path.
Mr Greenwich wrote to the auditor-general about the project, and Mr Hehir said he would review the bridge as part of his 2015-2016 performance audit.
