A TEENAGE girl is lucky to be alive after falling from a cliff in Loves Bay, Kiama Heights on Thursday, April 2.

The 17-year-old girl from Nowra was out walking with her boyfriend at about 9am on Thursday morning when police believe she was climbing the side of the cliff face and lost her grip, falling about 15 meters onto the rocks beneath her.
Her boyfriend notified neighbouring residents who phoned the police and ambulance.
By the time emergency services had arrived the young girl was concussed and had sustained closed head and pelvic injuries according to paramedics on the scene.
Kiama SES volunteer McKenzie said it had been a difficult spot for a rescue as the emergency helicopter had to land on the edge of the rock shelf.
She was airlifted to St George Hospital where she was being treated for her injuries. The extent of injuries are not yet known.
Loves Bay makes up the final part of the Werri Lagoon Walking Trail and is fitted with signage about the danger of the unfenced cliff face.

UPDATE 12:00AM: The young girl from Nowra has been flown to St George Hospital where she is being treated for head and pelvic injuries. The extent of her injuries are not yet known.
Police have reported that she was out walking with her boyfriend and was climbing the cliff face when she lost her grip and fell about halfway (15 meters) hitting the rocks below.
Her boyfriend then notified neighboring residents who then phoned the police.
Lake Illawarra Police were first at the scene around five minutes after they received the call shortly followed by Kiama SES, police rescue, ambulance and helicopter ambulance.
10.15am: The patient is a 17-year-old girl. According to paramedics, she has a closed head injury and will be flown to St George Hospital.
It is understood she slipped while attempting to climb up the side of the cliff and fell about 15 metres.
She was with her boyfriend at the time of the accident and he raised the alarm.
9.55am: Reports are that the girl has a head injury and will be flown to St George Hospital. No other details about the patient are known.
9.15am EMERGENCY services personnel are in the Love's bay area, responding to reports of a girl over a cliff.
Emergency services were called to the accident, near Kalang Road, about 8.55am on Thursday.
Police were notified by neighbours after the alarm was raised.
Paramedics, Kiama SES, police and the Ambulance helicopter are on scene.
