Held on March 23 at Croome Road Sporting Complex, Albion Park, the under 14 rugby league team defeated Edmund Rice in the final.
The 10 points to nil win saw Bomaderry successfully defend the Shield they won in 2013, as last year’s event was postponed due to wet weather.
This result means they also progressed to round 4 in the Buckley Shield which is a state wide competition.
To progress to the final, Bomaderry had to win three games.
The first match was against Smith’s Hill from Wollongong, which Bomaderry won 12-10, with Cameron Grundy, Ollie Parrish and Billy Hayburn scoring tries.
Game two was against traditional rivals Kiama High, proving to be their hardest match of the day.
Leading four nil early, after a great try to Cameron Grundy, Kiama locked it up at 4 all and the game was in the balance.
Bomaderry dug deep for a big second half and a late try to Braeden Swain sealed an 8 – 4 victory.
The third game of the day was a semi-final and in a great display of teamwork, Bomaderry defeated Woonona High 34 points to six.
The half time score was 14-6, with Brendan Low scoring two tries and Billy Hayburn one.
But in the second half, Bomaderry played some very good football, with Brendan Low scoring another two tries to make it 4 for the game, along with tries to Ky Sims and Billy Hayburn, making it a double for him.
Bomaderry’s whole team performed well in this game, setting them up for the final against Edmund Rice.
In the final against Edmund Rice, Bomaderry High under 14’s ran out Steelers Shield champion’s for 2015 10 points to nil.
Tries were scored by captain Ollie Parrish and Caleb Robinson, who were among the team's best all through the tournament.
The pair were well supported by Ky Sims, Billy Hayburn, Brendan Low and Cameron Grundy .
The whole team played consistently well all day and were worthy champions.
The team would like to issue a big thank you to their coach Mr Morris and for the assistance of parents Adam Hayburn and Peter Sims.
The game ball player of the tournament was halfback Billy Hayburn.
