“We see people towing boats full of items they are bringing away for their holiday and we see tradesmen carrying unsecured loads in utes,” he said.
Sergeant Tebbutt said trailers of all types were also going to be targeted.
“For a lot of people Easter is one of the few times a year they might tow their boat or their caravan. Those trailers need to be roadworthy and compliant.
“Particularly with boat trailers, owners need to be aware of rusty parts and seized bearings.”
He said on the high traffic days over Easter the focus would be on keeping traffic flowing but for the rest of the time it would be on everything from mobile phone use and not wearing seatbelts to speeding and drink driving.
Modified vehicles will also be targeted over Easter with the police warning drivers of modified vehicles in the Shoalhaven over the Easter break should expect to be stopped.
