Berry had been unbeaten all season, winning 12 of their 14 regular season matches.

But the fourth-placed Nowra team has stuck to their guns, to secure an unlikely grand final spot.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat at the Berry Sporting Complex.

Both teams started the match anxiously, with runs extremely hard to come by.

Ben Lahene was the first to fall off the bowling of Ty Cherry for three runs, which took him 26 balls.

Fellow opener Kurt Quinlan quickly followed, after being bowled by Chris McCarron leaving Nowra at 2/10.

Seven of Nowra’s next eight batsmen would make it into double figures, turning the pressure back on to the hosts.

Adam Ison was the high man with 30 runs, as Nowra ended the day at 8/134.

Resuming on day two, Nowra lost their remaining two wickets for just eight runs, to be all out for 140.

The pressure was now back on the competition's strongest batting line-up, which needed 141 runs for victory.

The top order of Berry, including the league top two run scorers Kieran Gray and Allen Sullivan, crumbled to leave the host at 4/44.

The wickets kept falling, despite rain interrupting play, as Berry fell to 5/44.

Berry made a small fight back but the constant loss of wickets made the task continually harder.

Sitting at 8/80, Nowra knew they had to ensure that Berry’s tail didn’t wag.

Thankfully for them it didn’t, as Berry were dismissed for 92.

Alex Lee was the star with the cherry, claiming five wickets, which included the prize scalps of Gray and Sullivan.

Nowra then returned to the crease, knowing they just had to see the day out at the crease to secure the remarkable win.

Berry came out on fire to have Nowra at 7/11 and would eventually dismiss Nowra for 38.

But their innings soaked up enough time, as Berry had just three overs to make up the difference in runs.

Nowra will now play Bomaderry in the grand final at Bomaderry Oval next weekend.
