The eager students, who come from Aix-en-Provence in the South of France, are now immersing themselves in the lives of Australian families and Australian school over the next two weeks.

Along with the students are Christiane Jouve and Nathalie  Chemtov who have been welcomed by Nowra High French teacher, Sally Leslie. 

The exchange program aims to introduce cultures and give language learners the opportunity to immerse themselves in their target language. 

The students who attend Lycée Paul Cézanne have already begun their journey sightseeing some of Australia’s popular destinations.

This included Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach, Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay and the Opera House. 

Mrs Leslie was excited by the students’ arrival knowing the great outcome it would have on Nowra High as a whole. 

“The whole school community has been excited,” she said.

“You can feel the energy.

“It is all about encouraging cultural knowledge, tolerance and respect.”

The French students will visit Canberra, Coolangatta Historic Village and will be participating in a surfing lesson at Gerroa. 

Madame Chemtov from Lycée Paul Cézanne was grateful for the experience the exchange would give students.

“My kids have worked a lot to raise the funds for this trip,” she said.

“They have raised money at garage sales, bingo games and through sponsorships.

“It was all about team spirit, getting together and working hard to achieve great things.”
