Region four is made up of four zones with clubs from Eastern Riverina, Mid South Coast, South Coast Highlands and Western Riverina.
Across the four zones there are 30 individual Little Athletics centres and one of which is Shoalhaven.
A collection of Shoalhaven athletes and their families made the long trek to Leeton for a hot weekend of track and field competition.
There were some great performances over the weekend with many athletes securing first and second place, qualifying them for competing at the state track and field championships at Sydney Olympic Park in March.
Some notable performances came from Harry McGill who won the under 17s 3000m and finished second in the 1500m.
Samantha Peace added another gold medal and another record to her impressive athletics resume with a gold medal winning throw in the under 17s discus. Mikayla Check secured her place at state with a first in the 200m hurdles and second in both the 80m hurdles and long jump.
Kaitlyn Hush won gold the under 17 1500m walk, while Zac Havadjia scored a double gold with first in the 200m and 400m, plus a second in the Under 17 100m.
Abbey Crapp, Emilia Matthews, Molly Wellington, Troy Whittington, Hannah Stone and Ebony Johnson all performed well too.
There were many personal best achievements over the weekend and much determination and perseverance in hot conditions.
A full list of results and information about the championships will appear in next week’s paper.
Meanwhile, Little Athletic’s Tuesday night competition finished up last Tuesday. The season has ended a little earlier than normal to allow time for the track to be returfed.
The Committee apologises for the early season end but circumstances beyond our control have affected this decision.
The presentation day will be held on Sunday March 29 March 2pm at Bomaderry Bowling Club and everyone is welcome to attend.
