BOMADERRY stormed back into form with a dominating display against Batemans Bay on Saturday.
After winning the toss, Batemans Bay elected to bat on a dangerous Bomaderry Oval.
It turned out to be a bad decision, with Batemans bay being dismissed for just 27 runs off their 30 overs at the crease.
The competition’s leading wicket-taker Jordan Matthews was the chief destroyer, claiming 5/14 from his 14 overs.
Fellow opening bowler Stuart Jeffrey also claimed a bagful with 5/13 from his 15 overs.
Apart from one over from Matthew Bell, the openers were the only two to bowl for Bomaderry.
In the field, Paul Sawkins snapped up three catches, while John Muggleton and Tom Walters both secured one each.
After doing the job with the ball, Bomaderry knew the job was only half done and were determined to mount a big total.
Thanks to openers Walters and Zac Blattner, Bomaderry easily passed Batemans Bay’s total without loss, securing first innings points for the second placed Bomaderry.
Blattner would eventually be dismissed for 24, which included two boundaries, with the score on 44.
Batemans Bay mounted a small comeback before the close of play, dismissing three quick wickets for only 30 runs.
Paul Britt and Andrew Malcolm both claimed two wickets each for Bay, despite the wet conditions on offer.
Bomaderry closed the first day at 4/95, with Walters 31 no and Muggleton 1 no.
The hosts will be looking to claim an outright win next weekend, to all but assure a top two finish, with finals just three weeks away.
