Sent in to bat by Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen’s, Norths looked in trouble early, sitting at 4/44.
Ex-Servos Trevor Thomasson was the danger man, claiming 6/41 with three maidens in his 18 overs.
But a 58-run fifth wicket stand between Nick McDonald (36) and Daniel May (68) catapulted Norths’ innings.
With the help of some late hitting by Shane Bell, 22 from 24 balls, Norths were all out for the competitive total of 179.
With the ball, paceman Thomasson was supported by Matt Ganderton, Nate Jones, Josh Jones and Daniel Gleeson, who all claimed a scalp each.
At the change of innings, Ex-Servos knew they had a big job ahead of them.
Losing opener Chris Bramley for a duck, when the total was on just six, was not the start Ex-Servos were looking for.
When Matthew Tyler joined skipper Daniel Gleeson at the crease, the pair steadied the ship.
Tyler made his way to a hard-fought 15 before he was run out by Harry Peters for 15.
Thomasson couldn’t back up his solid performance with the ball, being dismissed for a duck also.
Following this dismissal, it signalled the close of play.
Gleeson will resume next week at 36 no, knowing a big score is necessary to get his side out of the 3/59 hole.
Shane Bell (1/29) and Dean Tyson (1/11) proved a handful with the cherry in hand and will shape up as keys to the match next Saturday.
Ex-Servos will be desperate to claim first innings points to remain ahead of the fourth-placed Nowra, so close to finals.
