But that didn’t stop both teams from ripping in and finishing the season on a strong note.
Thanks to handy contributions from skipper Aaron Wester (26), Terry Dorrell (27) and Scott King (33), the hosts Ulladulla were able to total 137 in their innings.
Add in a quick-fire 13, which included three boundaries, from Nathan Bell, Ulladulla would have been happy with their total.
Bay and Basin bowler Johnathon Hill added to his 21 on the season, by claiming a solid 5/43 on Saturday.
Hill was supported by teammates Colin Searson (2/29), Anil Sharma (2/18) and Adam Kempt (1/27) with the ball.
At the change of innings, Ulladulla knew early wickets were the key to claiming first innings points.
But thanks to a 45-run opening partnership from captain Liam O’Brien and Kempt, put Bay and Basin directly on the front foot.
The momentum swung back in the favour of the hosts as O’Brien, Kempt, Hill and Chris Labb were all dismissed on the space of eight runs, making it 4/53.
But a determined effort by Thomas Dolby and Phillip Cowan saw Ulladulla see it out to stumps only four down, and with 76 runs on the board.
Scott King led the way with the ball securing 2/26, while Shane Bond (1/20) and Aaron Wester (1/10) played the supporting roles.
With the match delicately poised, both teams will be determined to bring their best on day two next week.
