The name Thomas is going round again in the shape of brothers Jimmy, Willy and Robert Thomas who will bring back memories of Henry “Pecker” Thomas and Kenny “Big K” Thomas from the 1970s.
The three brothers are all Henry’s sons and there is no doubt their father will return to Mackay Park when the boys trot out this season.
The Belcher boys, Scott and Dean, are going around and remind the club of the days when their father Micky - the youngest player to reach 100 first grade games ever get a 100 first games up - was making his presence felt amongst the visiting teams along with big brother Paul “Fatty” Belcher and grandfather, Vic, who ran the show as one of the club’s best presidents in its history.
The Stewart name goes way back to the early days in Group 16 and now Andrew, Leonard and Steven will be pulling on the Black and Gold when the club returns to the Far South Coast playing fields.
Tigers Team of the Century front-rower and 1948 premiership winner Kevin Connell will have his name continued when grandsons Sean and Ryan take the field this season.
Training has rolled along and numbers are on the increase. However there is a shortage of referees and linesmen.
In Country Rugby League (CRL) volunteer linesman are able to complete a short instructional course before the season to assist at local games.
These linesmen do not enter the field of play or adjudicate on penalties and are only asked to control the touchline.
If people are interested in participating email the Tigers secretary at secretarybaytigers@outlook.com.
New players at training must register immediately as the CRL have informed the club there is no insurance coverage for training or playing until the player is registered.
