Falls Creek Public School kindergarten students are already diving head first into the fun of education.
Layla Ryan said she loved her first week of school so far because she had already made a lot of new friends.
“I had lots of fun on the first day. I played on the slide lots of times and had a banana for lunch,” she said.
“I woke up and got dressed on my first day, but when I was getting ready I had to change my new uniform because I got toothpaste on it.
“I also packed my lunchbox the night before.
“In the afternoon after school I spilt apple juice all over me, so Mum had to wash all my clothes.”
Dejan Sankovic wasn’t worried about his first day of school because his big brother Aaron, in year 6, was there to look after him.
“I wanted to come to school the same day he did,” he said.
“Everything is fun.
“I like playing on the monkey-bars.”
Year 1 students Emily Sammut and Declan Flear said they were helping kindergarten students make the most of their first year at school.
Emily’s advice for a great year ahead was to listen carefully to the teachers.
“So you can learn a lot,” she said.
“I love school because I can play with all my friends and learn to write.
“Writing and maths are my favourite subjects.”
Declan said the most important thing to do was look out for each other.
“I love maths too. I know that 200 plus 100 equals 300,” he said.
“I like learning to write a lot too.”
My First Day At School photos will appear in the South Coast Register on Wednesday, February 11.
