About 6800 helmets, worth $7 million, will be distributed across NSW with in-built radio technology, lights and adjustable eye protection to provide greater protection and clearer communications during emergencies.
The current style of helmet was first adopted in 1993.
The helmets will roll out in NSW Fire and Rescue stations from March, with the majority of the allocated firefighters to receive their new helmets by the end of June.
