Both teams found batting hard on Bomaderry Oval which definitely favoured the bowlers.
Bomaderry was all out for 58 runs and Nowra all out for 50 runs in their respective first innings digs.
Nowra won the toss, sent the home side in and a steady flow of batsmen heading back to the pavilion became the common theme of the match.
Nowra’s Michael Coulter with four wickets cut his way through the Bomaderry batting order, while Kurt Regan three wickets and Justin Weller two wickets joined in the fun.
Bomaderry’s Nick Jennings stood tall during the carnage and his 22 runs might not sound all that impressive but put into context of this match it was near like a century.
The unfortunate scorecard must have put Bomaderry captain Jordan Matthews in a bad mood and he was determined to make Nowra pay.
Matthews did make the opposition pay and took six wickets.
The Bomaderry captain fired down 10.1 overs, including three maidens and his bowling stint only cost 13 runs.
Bomaderry only needed one other bowler which was John Muggleton.
Muggleton took four wickets from his strong 10 over stint.
Kurt Quinlan top scored for Nowra with 16 runs and early on in his innings was slightly shaken by a rising Matthews’ delivery but cleared his head and played on.
Unfortunately for Bomaderry they got to bat again and at stumps they are 1/17 in their second innings.
Both teams would hope the wicket give both the batting and bowling side something.
Meanwhile, two other first grade matches were marred by rain.
The Ulladulla United versus Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemens at Ulladulla Sports Park and Nowra Cambewarra verses Batemans Bay at Bernie Regan Sports Complex did not commence.
