CAMBEWARRA tennis star, Sophie Phillips, will represent NSW in the national Australian Made Foundation Cup in Melbourne starting Monday January 12 after being recently selected in the NSW team.
The Australian Made Foundation Cup gives children 13 and under from rural and regional Australia the opportunity to compete nationally.
The tournament forms part of the Australian Made Summer of Tennis, a joint initiative of the Australian Made Campaign and the Fed Cup Foundation.
The Australian Made Summer of Tennis celebrates junior sport and local industry, highlighting the importance of supporting both to ensure a better future for all Australians.
Australia’s Fed Cup Captain and tennis champion, Alicia Molik, is the face of the campaign.
Sophie was in great form towards the end of last year.
She won an Australian ranking tournament in the 12 years and under division and then won a Wollongong Silver Australian Ranking tournament.
Sophie joined a select group of tennis players who have won such singles titles from the Shoalhaven Club at this level.
