The children took catches, made runs, got people out and made some new friends when the Home Ground Cricket Tour came to town. The free tour is part of an initiative by the NSW Government to promote cricket in regional communities.
Former Australian bowler and two time World Cup champion cricketer, Nathan Bracken, took part in the tour.
Bracken enjoyed mixing with the children and passed on a few tips.
The children who attended were a mix of regular cricket players, while others were new to the sport.
Bracken said the event was a fantastic opportunity to get the local community excited for this year’s World Cup tournament.
“It’s a great way to bring all aspects of cricket together with all the activities in one space,” he said.
“You have a giant screen which is broadcasting the cricket, both kids and adults playing in the inflatable nets and learning skills from Cricket NSW, along with a walk through museum which showcases a lot of cricket history.”
The travelling road-show will visit 27 locations throughout regional NSW this summer.
