Nowra High School had the biggest achievement this year with 24 of its students acknowledged on the NSW Distinguished Achievers list for results exceeding 90 per cent.

The school was also home to the South Coast’s highest achiever Jasmyn Newton who received an ATAR of 99.05.
St John the Evangelist High School had 13 distinguished achievers with student Samuel Robertson the dux of the school with a 95.5 ATAR result.
Vincentia High School had 12 students among the distinguished achievers, including Charlotte Brady with a 97.5 ATAR and Jay Edwards who received 97.25.
Nowra Anglican College had six students acknowledged for their high results, including Timothy O’Shea with a result of 95.1.
Shoalhaven High School students Dale Glennan and Marni Killick also received results over 90 per cent.
Nowra High School principal Angela Byron said it was fantastic to see a public school achieve such high results.
“I think our results are just exceptional and our teachers have worked incredibly hard,” she said.
“Jasmyn’s results are absolutely extraordinary. She is an extremely hard working student and has been since year 7 so she absolutely deserves all of her successes.
“These achievements just go to show the extraordinary job public schools do in supporting the education of students and our results are the best in the South Coast area this year.
“The kids have done a wonderful job.”
Vincentia High School principal Steve Glenday said this year’s HSC results were the school’s best so far.
“This is the first time we achieved a band six in every KLA [key learning area],” he said.
“We’re very proud of Jay Edwards who received the second highest results in the state for Indonesian. He is off to study in Indonesia with Melbourne University next year, having won a scholarship.”
Bomaderry High School principal Jill Appleton said she was particularly proud of her students who received top results in Japanese.
“We have never offered the course before and to have students do so well is fantastic,” she said.
“We also did very well in dance, English and mathematics.”
St John’s and Nowra Anglican College held celebratory HSC morning teas at the schools on Thursday with the top achieving students.
Over 76,000 students sat at least one HSC subject this year.
For the first time students will get their HSC Record of Achievement as a PDF file on January 7 followed by hard copies on January 14.
