Particularly impressive was the achievement of our public schools, especially Nowra High, which shines so brightly in this year’s results. Such good results do not just reflect the individual students who achieved them but hold a mirror to the entire school and a culture that clearly values and nurtures learning.
The results at Vincentia and Shoalhaven high schools are also highly commendable, especially given the challenges faced in the catchments from which they draw students. The dedication of their teachers and the efforts of their students are outstanding.
Special mention also to Bomaderry High, whose Japanese students performed so well as the first to undertake the course at the school.
Of course we also applaud our independent schools and their students who acquitted themselves with flying colours.
And so another year passes with pride for the young people our region produces. We wish them all well as they embark on the next big journey in life, either pursuing further study or embarking on careers. More importantly, we thank them for the inspiration they will bestow on those set to follow them in the years to come.
And we thank the teachers who have guided them through this period of challenge and growth. They are the custodians of our future and we salute their tireless efforts.
