Local dance studio Reeve-Wallace School of Dancing hosted a semi-formal event at the Bomaderry RSL Club.
During the evening, two students from the studio, Julie Dumpleton partnered by Darrell Reeve and Tony Martin partnered by Margaret Reeve-Wallace performed their Modern Oscar Medal examination in ballroom dancing.
This is the 10th and highest level that can be achieved in amateur dancing and takes years to achieve.
Examiner Leoni Snook from the Australian National Dance Association travelled from Sydney for the occasion.
Julie and Tony were supported by over 100 fellow dancers, friends and family who all enjoyed the high level of dancing technique and choreography.
A demonstration Latin dance was also performed by Julie’s daughter Kate Brumerskyj on the night, with dinner and social dancing rounding out the evening.
The studio’s principal, Margaret Reeve-Wallace, who established the dancing school in Nowra in 1959, believed it to be the last time she would partner one of her students for an Oscar performance.
However she intends to continue teaching for many years to come.
Margaret is also training Julie and David Dumpleton as dance teachers.
