Mr Steele said there were a lot of fund-raisers and events for children at this time of the year and thought it would be nice to do something for the older residents of the community.
Southern Cross community Housing community development officer Penni Wildi said the committee meets monthly and organises events for Shoalhaven residents.
“We had raffles, Clipper Road Preschool children singing to the nursing home residents, drumming from Nowra East Public School as well as line dancing art and craft workshops and even hair and makeup,” she said.
“The residents love seeing the children perform for them.”
Jonathan Rogers House activities co-ordinator Rhonda Stevenson was impressed with the community spirit.
“This has been a great opportunity for the residents to be pampered. It’s not every day they can get their hair and makeup done. It’s nice to have these special treats,” she said.
