Bomaderry High School Cricket Team is currently playing in the World Schools Cricket Challenge in Melbourne.
Bomaderry High School is one of only four Australian school teams who have been accepted to play in the competition.
They will be the only NSW school team and will play against four teams from New Zealand, two teams from India and three teams from Victoria.
Playing in the competition continues Bomaderry High’s long and illustrious tradition of cricketing excellence.
Bomaderry is the only school to have won the South Coast region of the Alan Davidson Shield competition (open boys) in three consecutive years.
Bomaderry have also won the regional division on many other occasions.
Bomaderry High has recently added an impressive indoor cricket practice facility to the school and the students are relishing the opportunities provided by having cricket training sessions that can be held day and night in wet or dry weather conditions in this world class facility.
The school team travelled to Melbourne on Sunday December 14 and will play in a series of 50 over and Twenty20 matches within their division.
A tour of the MCG, guests at a Twenty20 Big Bash match featuring the Melbourne Stars and a formal dinner with all the international student teams are included in the tour.
The team will be accompanied by the Director of School Cricket, Mrs Cathy Russell, who is also the President of the Shoalhaven District Cricket Association and Bomaderry High teacher Mr Mark Graham, a self confessed cricket tragic.
The team is coached by Scott Fagerlund, recently returned from a cricket tour of England and Wales who will accompany the team in a volunteer capacity.
The school is confident the team will acquit themselves credibly in this illustrious competition.
Team member Lachlan Adlington said they would be hard to beat.
“We will win this competition,” he said.
The team consists of four year seven students, one year eight student, four year 10 students and three year 11 students.
