At 7pm on Tuesday, traffic was very heavy and queued back six kilometres.
Drivers are being diverted onto General Holmes Drive, Bestic Street, West Botany Street and then back onto the motorway.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area or allow plenty of extra travel time.
The fluid has damaged the road and Hazmat crews, emergency services and motorway crews remain on the site, cleaning the spill and repairing the road.
All eastbound lanes remain open.
